Military aircraft testing begins in Madrid for the October 12 parade

These days, military planes fly over the skies of Paseo del Prado, Castellana and reach the northern neighborhoods of the capital in the first rehearsals of the aerial parade, which will take place on October 12 on the occasion of the National Holiday.

This year the military parade will once again take place along the Paseo del Prado, after in recent years the passage of military units was along the Paseo de la Castellana.

The Ministry of Defense is in charge of setting the route of the October 12 parade presided over by the Kings, which since 2017 has run along Castellana, between Plaza de Cuzco and Raimundo Fernández Villaverde Street.

It was in 2011, in the final stretch of José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero's government, when it was agreed to move it between Paseo del Prado and Colón.

A change that the then Minister of Defense, Carme Chacón, denied was intended to appease the boos from citizens that the head of the Executive received in previous years, but rather to make the parade more accessible to the public.

As is traditional, the event will begin with the solemn raising of the flag and the tribute to those who gave their lives for Spain, at which time the aerial parade will begin that will close the pass of the 'Eagle Patrol' painting the skies with the colors of the national flag.
