Line 1 of the Madrid Metro will reopen half of its route next Wednesday, the 27th, between the Sol and Nueva Numancia stations, the Minister of Housing, Transport and Infrastructure, Jorge Rodrigo, announced this Thursday.

He indicated this during his appearance at the Madrid Assembly, in which he advanced this partial reopening of the line that has been suspended since the summer to carry out works to improve the track between the Sol and Valdecarros stations.

These works started on June 24 and the regional Executive estimated that they would be completed in their entirety in October.

As a mobility alternative, the Municipal Transportation Company (EMT) has offered a special bus service with twelve intermediate stops: Menéndez Pelayo, Pacífico, Puente de Vallecas, Nueva Numancia, Portazgo, Buenos Aires, Alto del Arenal, Miguel Hernández, Sierra de Guadalupe, Villa de Vallecas, La Gavia and Las Suertes.

These modernization works on line 1, promoted by the Community of Madrid, will comprehensively improve the operation of the line, reduce train travel times, introduce technological features that increase the reliability of the facilities and optimize work and the maintenance costs of the road.

The works include the removal of the ballast (stones that are placed on the track platform) and the wooden sleepers, to replace them with a new concrete platform, thus renewing the rail fastening and support systems, and incorporating new ones. high-tech devices that manage the crossing and branching of roads.

This will reduce noise and vibrations and improve the drainage system, which will optimize its conservation and reduce incidents.

In total, action is being taken on more than thirteen kilometers of route and, in parallel, on the overhead line facilities and the signaling system, and asbestos removal work is carried out.

These interventions are part of the comprehensive plan for the complete renovation and improvement of line 1 of the Madrid underground.
