Edmundo Bal requests his reinstatement to the State Attorney General's Office after the Ciudadanos debacle

The spokesman for Ciudadanos in the Congress of Deputies, Edmundo Bal, has requested through a letter his reinstatement to the State Attorney General, as he announced at the end of April when he felt "disappointed" with his party.

Bal returns in this way to the State Attorney's Office, from where he was dismissed in 2018 by the Government due to differences surrounding the trial of the 'procés'. Specifically, the Cs spokesman was in favor of having accused the Catalan leaders of a crime of rebellion.

At the end of 2022, Bal decided to opt for the leadership of Ciudadanos during the remodeling process that his party was carrying out. The former deputy appeared against the list promoted by the then 'orange' president, Inés Arrimadas, and was defeated. Later, when Cs announced his intention not to stand in the general elections on 23-J, Bal publicly criticized this position, which led to the opening of a disciplinary file.

Now, and given that he will lose his status as deputy on August 17, with the constitution of the new Cortes after 23-J, he has requested his return to the State Attorney's Office, "his professional home since always, where he learned everything up to that politics got in his way. But, in a message posted on his Twitter social network account, he has guaranteed that he "will continue to fight to serve Spain."

The former leader of Ciudadanos, Albert Rivera, signed Edmundo Bal as an independent for the elections on April 28, 2019, after being dismissed by the PSOE government after directing the State Attorney's Office against the Catalan independence process. Over time, Bal rose to become deputy spokesperson for the group in Congress and later deputy secretary general of the party.
