Progress in the Alto Mijares fire: it no longer has a flame and its evolution is "very positive"

Good news finally arrives for the fire that has been raging for a week in various towns in Alto Mijares, in the interior of Castellón and its border area with Teruel. The Emergency teams have confirmed a few minutes ago that there have been no flames for 24 hours, the perimeter (about 60 kilometers) is consolidated and the evolution of the fire is "very positive". All in all, the fire has devastated a total of 4,700 hectares in these seven days and there are still 1,300 people who are still evicted.

It is the latest balance in the area, which has been under the control of the Emergency teams throughout the night, which tonight flew two UME drones with thermal cameras to detect possible hot spots.

The analysis of the situation includes concern for a small point, a ravine in which it is difficult to work due to its length and because there may still be embers, for which reason the Emergency teams confirm that there are currently eight aerial means prepared in case some quick intervention would have to be made.

Regarding the possibility of returning to their homes given the positive evolution of the fire, the forecast is that the relocation of the 1,300 people who are still outside their homes can continue today. "The forecasts are that they can return to their homes, yes, in addition the President has convened the CECOPI for this noon and assess it that is the intention at the end of the morning," said José María Ángel, regional secretary for Security and Emergencies.

Likewise, Ángel explained this morning that although the night has been "very quiet", the aerial supervision of the fire perimeter is currently continuing with a reconnaissance flight.
