The Race Against Hunger brings together students from 12 educational centers in Madrid

More than 500 boys and girls from 12 schools in Madrid have participated this Wednesday, May 17, in the 26th edition of the Race Against Hunger promoted by the organization Action Against Hunger. Its objective, to raise funds and fight against hunger in the world.

In this edition, the students have not run alone. They have been accompanied by the actors from the film Campeones, Roberto Chinchilla and Alberto Nieto, as well as by one of the best athletes in our country, Jesús España. All of them have overcome the most charitable sporting challenge of the year at the same time.

Throughout its 26 editions, the Race Against Hunger has raised more than 45 million euros. More than 15,000 educational centers and 3 million students have participated in this initiative.

Only in the day of this May 17 in Madrid, more than 500 infant and primary students from 12 schools have participated. Concentrated at the Alameda Internacional School in Madrid together with its Friendly Schools, the boys and girls have put into practice what they have learned in recent months. And it is that before the race there have been several sessions to raise awareness about the project, which this year puts the relationship between hunger and conflict at the center.

Each of the kilometers that the boys and girls have run will become donations destined to end child malnutrition in the more than 55 countries in which the organization Action Against Hunger works.

"Projects like this help the younger generations to become involved in social causes and become supportive, empathetic adults," said Jesús España after accompanying boys and girls throughout the course.

“As a team we can achieve much more, because what we do together is stronger than acting alone”, added Blanca, a 1st year ESO student at Alameda International School. Fun, sport and solidarity have become the key pillars of a celebration that has once again brought together students of all ages for a common purpose: the fight against hunger.

The Race Against Hunger is an international project that was born to educate in solidarity through sport. It is proposed as a collaborative challenge where the students are the protagonist from beginning to end.

Thanks to this initiative, the organization has spent 26 years bringing different realities into the classroom and raising awareness among more than 4 million students around the world about the effects of hunger and malnutrition.

The registration period is still open to carry out the sports challenge at the end of the course or for the next 2023-2024. From the website carreracontraelhambre.org all educational centers are encouraged to participate. The funds raised are used to alleviate a global problem that affects more than 828 million people.
