The fight against sexist violence is a priority for governments, at least Western ones. The plan is to allocate more and more resources and make legislative reforms, with more or less success, to alleviate this scourge. Despite this, the number of fatalities does not decrease, it even increases at certain times. The person who suffers the attacks is usually someone who is already very vulnerable, which means that many times, despite detecting clear warning signs, they decide to let it go; with accepting the aggressor's forgiveness and trying to repair a relationship that threatens life-threatening danger. That is what happened to the ill-fated protagonist of the latest installment of Dossier Negro, Romina Celeste. This young Paraguayan woman, despite explaining to her circle of friends that she was a victim of abuse and going so far as to report her husband to the police station, ultimately ended up dead. She withdrew the accusation at the last minute and the case was dismissed.
Her husband explained that, once she died, he panicked and decided to cut his wife into pieces and then burn the pieces on the family barbecue, something that he did not completely succeed in and, in the end, he ended up abandoning the remains in various parts of the island. from Lanzarote. This procedure is not at all unusual in this type of crimes, such as one that occurred in Torrevieja, Alicante.
In betrayal and in the dark. The murder of the couple, although it sometimes occurs in open settings and with the public, is usually something more private, as intimate as it is cruel. In a high number of cases, it is committed in the marital home, sometimes even with other residents inside. In the case of the crime on Serralada Street in Sabadell in 2011, which occurred while everyone was sleeping, no one noticed.
Bracelets against death. The search for a solution to stop the bloody number of women murdered by their partners has led administrations to seek solutions in the direction of prevention, beyond the arrest and imprisonment of suspects. The placement of geolocated bracelets is one of them.
Crimes and vice versa. In murders committed within a couple, the victim is not always the woman. The perpetrator of intramarital violence can also be its female component. Although women tend to resort to bloody methods much less frequently than men, they can also resort to dismemberment, as in the case that occurred in Barkaldo in 2022.
To death. The victim of sexist violence within the couple, and this is a pattern that is frequently repeated as a consequence of the psychological burden that it usually entails, can justify the violent behavior of the spouse, which in no case makes them safe. .
