La Miranda promotes the personal and academic growth of its students

With a solid 56-year history in the educational field, La Miranda has left a lasting mark since its founding in 1967 by Pere Sureda, Janine Fradera and Maria Kolt: offering its students a high-quality and cutting-edge education.

The commitment to excellence is reflected in a comprehensive and coherent educational journey for its students that not only focuses on academic achievement, but also seeks to nurture social, emotional and creative skills.

La Miranda has been able to adapt to changes in the educational field over the years, incorporating modern methodologies and emerging technologies to improve the learning experience and a team of highly trained and committed educators.

Today, La Miranda is integrated into the international group of premium schools Inspired, an international network of more than 110 schools in twenty-four countries and six continents whose students not only achieve outstanding academic results, but also graduate to go to some of the best universities and careers worldwide.

As a center authorized by the OIB to teach the International Baccalaureate, La Miranda offers a comprehensive education that covers all educational stages, from Maternal, Infant, Primary and Secondary Education, to Baccalaureate, which is offered in three modalities: National Baccalaureate, DUAL Baccalaureate and DP or International Baccalaureate.

Located in Sant Just Desvern, near the Collserola park, La Miranda has an area of more than 14,500 m2, almost 5,000 of which are used for classrooms. In its 11 buildings, it has three laboratories, two robotics and industrial design classrooms, a sports pavilion, a gym, a semi-Olympic heated pool and rooms for dance, judo, psychomotor skills, body expression and games, as well as three artificial grass soccer fields and various sports courts and recreational parks.

La Miranda's philosophy and educational project are based on several pillars that define its distinctive approach to education. Firstly, the school stands out for its commitment to multilingualism, offering from the earliest age the teaching of up to seven languages taught by native teachers.

The comprehensive development of the student is another priority at La Miranda. It seeks beyond academic performance, promoting critical thinking, teamwork, problem solving and creativity. The school has adapted and created its own active methodologies to achieve this objective, betting on a school process that involves the student in decision-making, discovery learning and problem solving.

Educational innovation is another distinctive feature of La Miranda. Being recognized as an Apple Distinguished School, the school has effectively integrated technology into its pedagogical methodology. This innovative approach is manifested through active methodologies that place the student at the center of their own teaching-learning process.

Multilingualism is a key element for the center. Thus, La Miranda teaches seven languages by native teachers and prepares students for the official exams in English, French and Chinese, but it not only focuses on learning the languages themselves, but has created an educational context that favors cognitive development of students, improves their linguistic skills, opens their minds to other cultures and prepares them for a globalized world in which languages are an excellent tool to face the challenges of an international work environment.

Furthermore, learning multiple languages can stimulate critical thinking and contributes both to the personal enrichment of students and to the development of their communication skills in various contexts.

At La Miranda, innovation plays an essential role. The institution recognizes the importance of evolving education to prepare students effectively in a constantly changing world.

Technology is strategically integrated into the classroom, leveraging cutting-edge devices such as iPads, AppleTVs, and MacBooks, among others, to personalize learning and promote inclusion. The Apple Distinguished School distinction adds a distinctive element to this integration, highlighting La Miranda's commitment to educational excellence supported by Apple's innovative technologies. The implementation of Apple devices and platforms not only drives collaboration between students and teachers, but also personalizes learning experiences, encouraging active participation and individualized skill development.

Looking to the future, the management of La Miranda has set itself various challenges that include incorporating into its study plans those technological advances that provide added value, such as the metaverse or artificial intelligence, and help students acquire skills relevant to their Laboral future.

Other challenges of the center are to ensure that all initiatives and programs are inclusive and address the diversity of students, prepare students to be global citizens through international programs and continue to focus on the professional development of teaching staff, one of the pillars that have defined La Miranda since its creation.
