Viladecans celebrates Christmas with performing arts in its streets

"We do not want to compete either in the league of the tallest trees or in the league of lights," the mayor of Viladecans, Carles Ruiz, made clear this Wednesday. In this town in Baix Llobregat they have, since last year, another way to celebrate Christmas: they organize a performing arts festival in the street. They released it last year and they say that it went so well that now they will repeat it.

Between the 28th and the 30th of December, the Al Carrer Nadal festival will be held, which will have 33 performances by a total of 16 companies, with one from Valencia and one from France. It is the winter version of the traditional Al Carrer, the Viladecans International Theater and Animation Festival, which is held in summer and already has 34 editions. "We are a reference municipality in street art", considered the deputy mayor responsible for the area, Olga Morales.

During Christmas "the performances are aimed at children and family audiences," described the councilor. Theatrical performances, entertainment groups and a fire show will be present in Viladecans.

Also other proposals that use new technologies, such as a pinball that can be played through virtual reality or the simulation of a correfoc made with lasers, said Olga Morales.

On the other hand, under the motto "In Viladecans, Christmas is another story", the town has structured its Christmas campaign, with twenty citizens congratulating the holidays and telling stories about how they experience them in the city.

In fact, in all the posters the protagonists are the neighbors who passed a casting. "The role belongs to the people," the mayor stressed during the presentation of the Christmas campaign.
