The secret of Bobi, the oldest dog in the world who reaches 31 years old

A month has passed since the death of Bobi, the oldest dog in history. The Alentejo Mastiff lived 31 years and 165 days, a milestone in the animal world. After saying goodbye to Bobi, his owner has revealed the reason why he lived so long.

Leonel Costa, the dog's owner, has been interviewed by GWR, where he has shared Bobi's secret. The Portuguese dog lived more than 30 years because he always walked free, without a leash or chain, in a "calm and peaceful" environment.

In addition to his lifestyle, Bobi had a very particular diet, his food was human food soaked in water to remove the seasonings. Likewise, Bobi was able to enjoy her life outdoors, playing and taking daily walks with her family.

Unfortunately, on October 21, the Guinness organization confirmed his death, highlighting his career: "He died (...) in his home in the Portuguese town of Conqueiros, where he lived his entire life with the Costa family," he wrote.

Karen Becker, an American veterinarian who had cared for Bobi in the past, wrote on her Facebook profile: "This sweet boy gained his wings," stating that, "although he has surpassed all dogs in history, his 11,478 days in the land will never be enough for those who loved him.

Their breed, known in Portugal as Rafeiro do Alentejo, is known for protecting livestock. Although the life expectancy of this breed is 13 years, Bobi managed to surpass it by far, becoming the oldest dog of all time.
