I can't wait to discover this new selection of great films", said the filmmaker when accepting the presidency of the jury in a note.

Chazelle has opened the Venice Film Festival twice with one of his films, in 2016 with La La Land and in 2018 with First Man.

La La Land earned 14 Oscar nominations and won six, including Best Director, making him the youngest director to receive this award, while his recent film Babylon (2022) received three Oscar nominations although It crashed at the box office.

The Jury of this edition of the Mostra, whose members have not yet been notified, is in charge of assigning the following official prizes to the feature films in competition.

It is about the Golden Lion for Best Film; Silver Lion, Grand Jury Prize; Silver Lion for Best Director; Volpi Cup for Best Female Performance and Best Male Performance: Special Jury Award, Best Screenplay Award, Marcello Mastroianni Award for a young emerging actor or actress.

On the other hand, it was also announced that the French director Alice Diop will be the president of the jury that will award the Luigi De Laurentiis Venice Opera Prima Prize and the Italian director Jonas Carpignano will preside over the jury of the Orizzonti section.
