Cuban women surprised in a Galician supermarket: "They haven't charged us anything"

Once again, social networks have worked their magic and the reaction of Anita, a Cuban who lives in Galicia, about an experience in a supermarket has gone viral on TikTok. Anita, who has more than 44,400 followers on said platform, has stood out for narrating the peculiarities of her life in Galicia.

In this video in question, which has reached more than 231,000 views in just 24 hours, a cultural difference is revealed in terms of the availability of certain products. Specifically, they show their astonishment at finding something that would be unthinkable in Cuba.

The video begins with the phrase "Things that happen in Spain but would never happen in Cuba", and takes place inside a supermarket in La Coruña. The two protagonists were looking for ingredients to prepare chicharrones, a typical appetizer at New Year's Eve celebrations in Cuba.

The surprise came when they requested the pork skin necessary to make the pork rinds. Anita explains that when she ordered it, she noticed strange looks from the supermarket employees. "They looked at us strangely, as if to say 'why do they want this?'" Anita says in the video. To their amazement, they were given the pigskin for free, and both women's excitement is palpable in the recording.

Anita comments in the video that, in Cuba, pigskin is an ingredient that is bought and not given as a gift. "They haven't charged us anything. We are going to make pork rinds on the 31st because we are Cuban and obviously we are going to make pork rinds," declares Anita, showing the purchase receipt that does not reflect any charge for the skin.

The publication has generated numerous comments, many of which explain the tradition in Spain of making chicharrones with streaky bacon and meat. Others suggest that pigskin, in some supermarkets, is discarded and offered for free, especially in butchers.

On the other hand, there are also those who issue a warning: "don't take advantage too much because they will end up telling about it," said the user rakelaracha, who explained that she had worked in a butcher shop and fears that if it becomes fashionable, eventually a business will be made with this.
