This year some families are innovating with a very special version of the Nativity scene. As has been seen on TikTok, there are those who have wanted to make their own version of the birth of Jesus using dogs.
One of the most charming depictions comes from the Miss Memes account on TikTok, where two pit bulls take on the roles of Mary and Joseph. In this scene, the dogs are calmly arranged around a basket, in which is a small Chihuahua, representing Jesus, lying on his back and wearing a diaper. This image not only shows the creativity of the owners, but also the surprising level of obedience of the dogs, who remain motionless in their roles.
Another account, Happy Hounds Coventry, has taken the idea a step further with even larger representation. Here, six dogs play various roles, including an angel, the three members of the Holy Family and two Wise Men. This more elaborate version of the canine Nativity scene demonstrates how pet owners are using their love of animals to innovate with traditions.
The reaction from TikTok users has been overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing their tenderness and admiration for these living nativity scenes. Comments such as “what a good time mine are going to have so calm” reflect the amazement at the patience and discipline of the dogs, while others have declared that these representations are “the most precious Nativity scene in the world.”
