An Andalusian woman tries the cachopo for the first time in Asturias and unleashes controversy: "This is a lifelong San Jacobo"

There are few who do not know Asturian gastronomy: fabada, corn cakes, scorpionfish cake, escalopes al cabrales or cachopo. The latter consists of two large beef steaks, between which Serrano ham and cheese are placed. Then, it is breaded with flour, egg and breadcrumbs. And then it is fried.

We always talk about a large piece, which is usually accompanied by French fries as a garnish. Although it may seem like a simple dish, it requires a certain skill, even more so if we want to achieve something similar to the cachopo that is made in Asturias.

However, not everyone knows how to distinguish a good cachopo. Or it reminds you too much of another dish, the San Jacobo. That is the impression that an Andalusian tiktoker has received, who has shared the reaction to trying this traditional Asturian recipe in the Principality on her profile.

"This is breaded meat with cheese and I don't know what else," the young woman begins, knife and fork in hand. When tasting it, she does not hesitate. "This is a lifelong San Jacobo from God, although with a little more cheese. I don't know why they call it cachopo," she summarizes to the outrage of some users.

Although this TikTok user doesn't differentiate between a cachopo and a San Jacobo, she still likes it. And she gives this typical Asturian dish a good note: "I give it an eight".
