Along with strawberries, blackberries or raspberries, blueberries are one of the most precious wild fruits on the market. They are characterized by being sweet with a note of acidity, being round, bluish-black in color and having very aromatic and juicy meat.
They are a food with a diversity of nutritional properties and a high antioxidant content, they facilitate weight loss due to their low caloric level and help prevent colds thanks to the contribution of vitamin A, B and C.
While the usual size of blueberries is usually around six millimeters, the largest blueberry in the world has set the record figure of 39.31 millimeters in diameter. This fruit, grown in Corindi, New South Wales, Australia, has just broken the Guinness World Record.
It is an exceptional blueberry, it weighs about 20.40 grams and has proportions similar to those of a ping-pong ball. According to the statement issued by the company that produced it, Costa Group, it belongs to the Eterna variety, characterized by its "crispy texture and long shelf life."
One of the members of the company, horticulturist Brad Hocking, noted: "The Eterna variety has great flavor and large fruits. When we picked this one, there were probably 20 other berries of similar size."
The previous record was held by a 16.20 gram specimen, grown in 2020 in Western Australia.
