The witness who accompanied Daniel Sancho the day he turned himself in: "It was the last time I saw him, without knowing what they accused him of"

The murder of surgeon Edwin Arrieta continues to leave reactions and repercussions as the days and weeks go by. The Spanish chef Daniel Sancho turned himself in to the local police on the island of Kho Phagan at the beginning of August, to later confess that he had been the one who had dismembered the victim. While waiting for the defendant to be tried and possibly repatriated to Spain, more details of his handing over to the police force have emerged.

The Antena 3 Espejo Público program has exclusively shared a conversation with the woman who accompanied Sancho on the day of his arrest. The morning newscast team was able to obtain new information about the hours after the murder, in which the young woman in question witnessed details and behaviors that would end up leading to the cook's confession. The witness in question has chosen to keep her identity hidden from her.

According to his words, during the day that the alleged murderer of Arrieta turned himself in, the woman had to help him with a small injury. She “was bleeding from a cut she had made on her finger. She told me that she had cut herself trying to open a coconut. But now I know that it is not true”, assured the interviewee. In the same way, she pointed out that she saw Sancho appear with several plasters and medicines that the team of the hotel where he was staying would have provided him.

The witness clarifies that she and the accused only knew each other from their various meetings in Thailand, but that there was no romantic relationship between them. In fact, they weren't traveling together either or had previously met somewhere else. Even so, she was with him that day since eleven in the morning on the day of delivery. The woman and Sancho shared breakfast together, including a third person who left before the key moment.

The woman and the cook went together to report Arrieta's disappearance to the police, when the arrest took place: "We were going to go to the Full Moon party together, but we went to the police station first because he was worried about his friend and wanted to file a complaint. Two hours after Daniel was inside, a police officer came out of the police station and told me that he would be detained and that it was best for me to go home. It was the last time I saw him, without knowing what were they accusing him of?

Back in Spain, Daniel's father's partner, Xenia Tostado, issued a statement to ask for respect for her daughter: "I have been feeling the need for a few days to express my concern and the fear that I feel as a mother. We do not know if we are safe. My daughter lives completely outside of everything that is happening and that is how it will be as long as we can and they allow us to. I am next to my partner, Rodolfo Sancho, in this deep pain that he is going through as a father, nobody has an idea".
