The presenter Carlos Tena dies at the age of 79

Sad day in the world of radio and television. The RTVE presenter and announcer, Carlos Tena, has died at the age of 79, as reported by the musician and composer Álex de la Nuez on Twitter. As reported by El País, the journalist was cremated this Friday morning. "My dear Carlos Tena has passed away. I cannot express the pain it entails, nor am I going to elaborate in an obituary. 45 years cannot be summed up in a sentence," De La Nuez wrote this Friday on his Twitter account.

The journalist, born in Madrid on November 27, 1943, has presented various music programs on TVE since the 1960s. Among them are titles such as Popgrama, Música maestro, Auanbabulubabalambambú and Caja de Ritmos. In fact, for this last space, which he also directed, he faced a lawsuit. It was after the performance in 1983 of the female punk band Vulpes, with their song I like being a fox.

The journalist began his career in the communication sector in 1967, collaborating in the written press in media such as Pueblo, Madrid or Diario 16. His great love for music was what made him opt for music journalism. On the other hand, he was one of the first to support the Madrid movement and to introduce little-explored genres to Spain, such as progressive rock, punk or reggae.

In the 1990s, Tena made the leap to private channels with the Catalan production company Gestmusic and became very popular as a jury on Lluvia de estrellas, presented by Bertín Osborne on Antena 3. There he was a television partner with the copla expert Lauren Shutter. He could also be seen on the program Menudas estrellas, and also as a talk show host on the Moros y cristianos program.

Tena was for decades one of the most prominent faces on the small screen thanks to his revolutionary music programs. He always highlighted his spontaneity and naturalness. Great faces of music such as Mike Oldfield, Queen, AC / DC, Patti Smith, Bob Marley passed through his programs. In fact, it was he who hosted Alaska's debut on the small screen.

Since 2010 he lived in Havana (Cuba), where he worked in a music medium, dependent on the Cuban Ministry of Culture. The causes of her death are unknown, and there are many users who have mourned the loss of her on social networks. Without a doubt, television loses an icon, a communication revolutionary in his time.
