The 'drag' Tekemaya denounces the harassment and mockery of a soccer team: "They took off my wig, I felt humiliated"

The Italian singer and drag queen Tekemaya has denounced through her social networks the terrible experience of harassment and humiliation that she suffered a few nights ago in Martano, a small town in the southeast of the Italian peninsula. The artist was performing in the town, when she was allegedly harassed by a group of men, belonging to the local soccer team.

"I have been doing this job for years and never, until tonight, did I feel humiliated," reveals Tekemaya, famous in Italy for her participation in The Voice; She explains that the situation was escalating in aggression. "First they threw ice at me, running the risk of hitting me in the eye. Then they made fun of me. Then ice again and, in the end, they took off my wig twice," he recalls, adding that "they laughed while they humiliated me , they felt strong."

However, the harassment and humiliation she suffered is not what the artist regrets most, but rather the fact that clients did not even blink an eye when she saw her suffer in that way. "What hurt me the most was the indifference of the other customers, even the owners," she explains, remembering that only one of them reacted, yelling at the group of men who were laughing at her.

"When I reacted to defend myself, everyone remained silent, like cowards," he laments.

The artist, who has always been committed to social rights, explains that it is the first time she has had to experience a situation like this in her long career. "I wanted to cry and I felt bad," she says in her publication, explaining that she felt sorry that people who should set an example in all facets of her life were making her suffer. "I feel anger, but above all a lot of sadness, for them."

"Annoying those who are different, those who are alone... It is sordid and typical of bad people. I hope that the team's followers remember it to make them reflect, because we must be men above all. Sport is respect," Tekemaya finishes.

The soccer team for which the men who allegedly harassed Tekemaya play has also received notice of the drag queen's complaint, and says it is trying to clarify the truth. Furthermore, they insist that they condemn these offensive behaviors and will take appropriate measures.
