Statement from the family of Edwin Arrieta, the man murdered by Daniel Sancho: "We appreciate respect for this difficult moment"

The family of Edwin Arrieta Arteaga, the Colombian surgeon whose murder Daniel Sancho Bronchalo has confessed to in Thailand, has issued a statement in response to the tragic events.

Rodolfo Sancho's son, Daniel Sancho Bronchalo, was arrested on suspicion of the murder last Saturday on the island of Koh Phangan. Sancho, 29, has confessed to having killed and dismembered Arrieta Arteaga out of "jealousy" and fear that he "deceived" him. The Thai authorities have reported that Sancho accompanied the police in the search for the parts of the dismembered body of the victim, thrown in different places, including the sea.

In the midst of this tragedy, the family of Arrieta Arteaga has decided to issue a statement in which they express their pain and request respect for this difficult moment. They have refused to make statements that could hinder the ongoing investigation and have focused their efforts on the diplomatic protocol that is carried out between the official organizations of the states involved.

On the other hand, the actor Rodolfo Sancho, father of Daniel Sancho, has traveled from Spain to meet with his son and learn first-hand about the details of the case. The actor had spoken with pride of his son's professional career in the field of gastronomy, highlighting his restaurant called Bugui. The unforeseen situation will undoubtedly affect the coming weeks of the actor, who will remain attentive to events.

It is expected that next Monday, August 7, a judge will review the case and the evidence presented by the police, deciding whether to file a formal charge against Sancho for the murder of Edwin Arrieta Arteaga on the island of Koh Phangan, Thailand.
