Sebastián Yatra debuts as a tennis player with Carlos Alcaraz and sweeps New York

Everyone knows that the Colombian artist Sebastián Yatra is a great athlete. Although many associate him with soccer, a sport that he loves and has been practicing all his life, the singer of Tacones Rojos, No hay nadie más, Traicionera or Robarte un beso has shown that he is good at other types of sports such as tennis.

In April of this same year, we witnessed how Yatra played soccer thanks to a party organized by the Spanish League with different public figures. On this occasion, we have verified that he is also very good at the racket game thanks to Rafa Nadal, whom he deeply admires.

On August 7, the Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz called the Colombian and invited him to play an exhibition match in New York during the Stars of the US Open, a week dedicated to fans from all over the world that is held in advance to the official tournament, which will begin on August 28.

Alcaraz had been left without a partner after the Mallorcan announced his temporary retirement to improve his physique, so he thought of Aitana Ocaña's supposed boyfriend to fill the gap.

"I don't know how to play tennis. What am I going to do?" Yatra exclaimed after accepting the invitation from the Murcian athlete. The concern was short-lived, as the Colombian traveled to Mallorca and took a series of classes at the Rafa Nadal Academy. In addition, Yatra received some lessons and advice from Nadal himself, for which he fulfilled a dream.

The Colombian and Alcaraz played the long-awaited doubles match yesterday and made the fans present enjoy themselves greatly. The protagonists faced the United States team formed by the tennis player Frances Tiafoe and the NBA player who competes in the Miami Heat Jimmy Butler.

After a lot of rallying, several heart-stopping shots and great tension, the Spaniard and the Colombian proved to be superior on the pitch and claimed victory in the friendly match.

''Carlos is the best. We've been getting along very well for a long time. In fact, we met here last year, when Rafa Nadal invited me to see him in his first match… And I also thank Carlos for helping me to find another passion and another hobby,'' said the young artist.

The Latin singer also explained that, although he knows that he will never officially dedicate himself to tennis, he can reach a good level: "Obviously I will never play tennis at a professional level... But if I put my batteries together, I can end up playing well And it's a super fun sport.'' After finishing the game, the showman explained that he still repeated: "I'll think about it for next year, thank you very much."
