The premise of Respira may not be new due to its medical context, but it cannot be said that, for those who still enjoy Grey's Anatomy, it does not attract attention, especially if one takes into account its cast: Aitana Sánchez-Gijón, Najwa Nimri, Blanca Suárez, Alfonso Bassave and Manu Ríos. And, after having started filming in August, Netflix has shown its first image.
The series focuses on Biel, a resident who has been working hard in a public hospital for months. The work hours, the shifts and the commitment of the job barely leave him time for his life. He is prepared for anything, he believes, as long as he works in his vocation. But things get complicated when the hospital breaks out into a total strike, without even providing the minimum services, aware of the harshness of the measure but how necessary it is to convey to the population the extent to which they are suffering from intolerable cuts in order to offer a good service. But what are residents supposed to do? Are they willing to let patients die or worsen their health?
The creator of Respira is a screenwriter with extensive experience at Netflix: Carlos Montero, co-creator of Élite with Darío Madrona, and solely responsible for All the Times We Fall in Love and The Disorder You Leave. He indicates that, after seeing the cast, the public will want to “come to this hospital even if it is only to be treated for a cold” or “to walk through the immense hallways and see the rooms, the operating rooms and all the spaces” that they have recreated. in an “ambitious and realistic” way.
Filming began at the Netflix production center in Tres Cantos and will also be recorded in Valencia.
