The agenda and the media specialized in the British crown were turned upside down this past Wednesday with the announcements of hospitalizations of Charles III and Kate Middleton. Her Majesty will undergo surgery next week to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), a non-cancerous cell growth of the prostate. For her part, the Princess of Wales was admitted yesterday afternoon due to an abdominal condition.
Just over 24 hours after Kensington Palace ruled on the intervention, several portals have published the first images of her husband, Prince William, arriving at The London Clinic hospital in the British capital to visit her. It was around 1:30 p.m. in the English time zone, when the heir to the throne approached the clinic with his own vehicle, accompanied by a security member as co-pilot and well escorted.
“The Prince of Wales has canceled numerous official engagements while Kate is in hospital to care for the princess and her 3 children. He will also reduce his public duties,” the Kensington press team explained in a note. Likewise, they issued a complete statement on Wednesday afternoon, explaining that Kate Middleton will be hospitalized for between ten and fourteen days, before returning home and resuming her commitments after Easter.
The royal residence of the princes of Wales was forced to issue another statement this Thursday, after it was circulated by different sensational media that Middleton suffered from some type of cancer. “Her condition is not cancerous,” the letter stated. Despite this ruling out, the lack of knowledge about the princess's condition continues to be a source of speculation in many publications throughout the United Kingdom.
“It could be something that has been bothering you all your life and you haven't resolved it, or it could be a problem that has come to light more recently. Two weeks in the hospital is longer than we would normally expect, but she doesn't have a normal life. She is the future Queen, so the doctors will be cautious. The most important thing is that she recovers well and that it is not too stressful for her and her family,” explained Middleton's family doctor, Zoe Williams.
“The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate. She hopes the public understands her desire to maintain as much normality as possible for her children; and her desire that her personal medical information remain private. “Kensington Palace will therefore only provide updates on Her Royal Highness’s progress when there is significant new information to share,” the original statement concluded.
