Pedro Almodóvar: "Pedro Sánchez can't take it anymore, neither can we"

The decision of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, to stop and reflect on his future in Moncloa continues to be one of the main topics of today. The leader of the Spanish Socialist Workers Party announced this past Wednesday, April 24, that he had suspended his public agenda for five days to decide whether to continue at the helm of the Executive or, on the contrary, resign from his position.

''At this point, the question I legitimately ask myself is, is all this worth it? Sincerely I dont know. This attack is unprecedented, it is so serious and so gross that I need to stop and reflect with my wife. Many times we forget that behind politicians there are people,' declared the president through a letter published on his social networks.

The decision of the President of the Government, which will be known this coming Monday, April 29, continues to generate all kinds of reactions and comments both on social networks and in different media. One of the last famous faces to speak out on the matter was the filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar.

This past Thursday, the director of Madres Paralelas published a column in the media elDiario.es under the name "Pedro Sánchez can't take it anymore, neither can we." In this opinion piece, the filmmaker wanted to show his full support for Pedro Sánchez after the complaint filed against his wife, Begoña Gómez, for an alleged crime of influence peddling and corruption in business.

''Last night, when I arrived after an endless photo session for the promotion, I came face to face with Pedro Sánchez's letter on television and I started to cry,'' he began by saying. Likewise, the filmmaker assured that he was not surprised by his decision because "there is no human being who can resist what the most resistant of our presidents has been suffering in recent years, in an escalation that exceeds everything imaginable." ''I wasn't surprised that it broke and it made me so helpless that I started crying like a child,'' he declared.

''Currently there is a new technique to bring down the political adversary, to harass him through the media and judicially until he breaks him emotionally and judicially, so that he cannot withstand any more pressure,'' continued Almodóvar, who in turn assured that this practice is complemented by ''misrepresentation and manipulation. , and that has the connivance of one of the powers of the State as important as the judicial power.''

''Everything that is happening is very serious and concerns all citizens and political parties (...) Four days of a lot of noise and uncertainty, impatience and listening to a lot of nonsense await us (...) At this moment "My heart goes out to the president and his family," he concluded.
