Miley Cyrus reveals the secrets of the lyrics of 'Flowers' and if there is a link with Liam Hemsworth

Flowers does not stop giving joy to Miley Cyrus. The song by the American singer has been at the top of the Billboard list for weeks, the prestigious music magazine. It is also succeeding in the UK. On Spotify's streaming platform, it became the fastest song in history to rack up 1 billion streams.

In Flowers, the artist talks about how hard it is to get over a long relationship. She also addresses the dependency it can cause in some cases. But that has a remedy, as she expresses herself in this new hit, where you can hear phrases like "I started to cry but then I remembered that I can buy myself flowers" or "I can ask myself to dance and hold my own hand."

Behind this very special and demanding letter, there have been many tests and secrets, which Cyrus has now revealed in an interview with Vogue magazine in the United Kingdom.

The American singer assures that the song was not intended to be an explicit diary of her experience, denying the many who affirm that the success tells the story with her ex-husband, actor Liam Hemsworth. She just wanted to do something that the audience would like.

The chorus has also changed from its initial version: “It originally said: 'I can buy myself flowers, write my name in the sand, but I can't love myself better than you.' It used to be more like the 1950s. The saddest song. Like, 'Sure, I can be my own lover, but you're so much better.'" But she decided to push away the sadness.

Cyrus was asked directly if the song was about her love affair with Liam Hemsworth. She was not too specific in her response: “I would not delete my story nor do I want to delete it. Having an interesting life makes the narrative interesting.”
