María Teresa Campos's best friend attacks Edmundo Arrocet: "He is an imposter"

María Teresa Campos was and always will be one of the best communicators in Spain. The leader of programs, in which she worked for so many years, she left behind dozens of colleagues and friends, with whom she created a most special bond. One of them was the journalist Meli Camacho, who became a close friend and confidant of the communicator for more than 25 years.

It is she who appears this week on the cover of Semana magazine, ready to make things clear and dot the i's to Edmundo Arrocet after the incendiary interview he gave a few weeks ago precisely to this same publication, in which he stated, among other things, that María Teresa wanted to marry him "to leave him a pension." Meli not only denies these claims, but she tells the reality of a relationship that is not precisely what the Chilean has told.

Always in the background, Meli Camacho speaks for the first time about her great friend. Extremely discreet, the journalist had only previously broken her silence on one occasion, and it was to defend María Teresa after the fierce criticism received for the broadcast of the reality show Las Campos. On this occasion, Meli speaks to clarify once and for all what the relationship between María Teresa Campos and Edmundo Arrocet was really like.

A relationship that he claims causes him "other people's humiliation," looking back, because he did not like the comedian. So much so that he gives him names such as "phony" and "imposter", among other niceties.

The journalist lived before, during and after that six-year relationship, and says that remembering it causes her great "sadness", since she considers that he is the man who has done "the most damage" to her friend.

"Edmundo was cruel to her," says Meli, who also worked with the couple during their time on the defunct ¡Qué tiempo tan Feliz!, until its cancellation in 2017.

She was the one who was by her side after her painful and complicated breakup, encouraging her friend to rebuild her life. What's more, it is rumored that she even tried to play matchmaker with her good friend Emilio Javier Gómez Plaza, but nothing was ever confirmed.

Despite the Chilean's attempts to speak well of the presenter at all times, it seems that neither his daughters nor those closest to him intend to let him pass a single comment about the communicator. María Teresa Campos' youngest daughter, Carmen Borrego, was quick to show her displeasure on television, stating that the comedian was "the worst thing that happened to my mother in her life."

An opinion shared by Alejandra Rubio, granddaughter of the beloved journalist, who was very hard on the comedian. "He has lived in a palace with a driver, with service, with everything and then he has left my grandmother with a kick from one day to the next," he said, explaining that "with this I am not saying that he was responsible for her death, but yes from my grandmother's decline. She never ever recovered.
