This April 8 we experienced a total solar eclipse. The unusual astronomical phenomenon has brought together millions of people from across the region. The United States, Mexico and Canada have been able to see it completely. On the other hand, in Spain they have been able to partially see it from some specific points in the territory. We will have to wait until August 12, 2026 to see a total solar eclipse in good conditions.
Social media has been flooded with videos and images of many excited viewers. For four minutes, a swath of the North American continent has been left completely dark. This historical phenomenon has generated a lot of expectation among citizens in general and scientists.
TV3 has connected live with Lídia Heredia's partner to follow the eclipse in Pennsylvania. "From one second to the next it became dark and the temperature dropped noticeably. We went from short sleeves to an anorak," commented Lídia. In addition, it has been possible to see how all the people in the surrounding area have enjoyed it.
"Here there was an explosion, a shouting, when this totality of the eclipse occurred. Many people have the feeling that we are living one of those experiences to remember for a lifetime (...) It is a feeling of shared joy," the Catalan woman said with emotion.
Much of the morning has been cloudy, but luckily the sky opened up with just one hour left due to the solar eclipse. "Once in life, the universe puts you in your place. You feel very small, but at the same time you hear that you are part of something bigger and important," he confessed to Lídia.
It was difficult for the journalist to look at the camera, since she was enthralled with the spectacle. She has even spoken to a NASA astronomer who told her that "when you see a total solar eclipse you want more." It cannot be ruled out that those who have seen the eclipse will now begin to develop a new hobby.
