José Luis Gil is one of the most recognized actors of the last 20 years in Spain. The Aragonese interpreter turned 66 on December 9, but unknowns about his state of health continue to float in the air. And it has been 2 years since the Zaragoza native suffered an acute ischemic stroke in the left hemisphere of the brain. Of the few who have been able to provide information about it, several of them have been recording partners.
This is the case of Carlota Boza, who coincided with Gil in La que se cerca, playing Carlota Rivas from Los Cuquis. The actress from Boadilla del Monte was present this past Wednesday at the presentation of Mundo Pixar, the largest exhibition dedicated to the film production company, which will be on display until April 7 at the IFEMA venue in Madrid. It was there where several reporters became interested in her statements, and tried to find out the status of her partner.
“He is progressing very slowly, I know little else,” were the only words that the media could extract from him. The interpreter did not want to go into many details, especially taking into account the more discreet line that the family has chosen for some time now. In both 2021 and 2022, her daughter Irene Gil published two birthday greeting messages, something that has not happened on this occasion. Her last publication dates back to October 24, with both of them posing smiling.
“You ask me about my father, I thank you from the bottom of my soul, feeling so much affection is an honor. It's hard to have to speak on his behalf, I wish he could respond to your messages. It is not like this. It's been 2 years and we are all assuming that life is not going to be the same again. It is a tremendous blow and one that is difficult to accept, we are in it. We struggle to face this situation that is very complex and painful. Thank you for your prudence and your respect,” he explained.
A process that directly affects the filming of The one that is coming. Alberto Caballero, creator of the series, spoke about this matter last May: “The recovery is slow, but the guy does not lack energy and we hope and trust that he will fully recover. What happens is that it takes more time than we would all like. He is recovering, the thing is that it is very slow because stroke issues are very difficult to recover from. It's going well, but slow.”
“We have hope. He is the only actor who has been in chapter 1. Now he can't, but he is fighting and we hope that, over time, he will return,” Caballero added in his explanations. Likewise, several filming colleagues, with whom he has been sharing stories for several years, showed his concern on social networks.
