Lady Di's secret dress: very sexy to wear before the wedding

This past Saturday marked the 42nd anniversary of the most watched televised wedding of the 21st century. We are talking about the marriage between Prince Charles and a very young Diana Spencer, who on July 29, 1981 were the protagonists of a fairytale wedding that is still remembered today, especially for the bride's dress.

Spencer arrived at St. Paul's Cathedral wearing a voluminous design signed by David and Elizabeth Emanuel. The shy Diana did not go unnoticed in a dress made of satin ivory taffeta fabric with antique lace details on the neckline and sleeves. In addition, she had up to ten thousand applications of pearls and sequins, a long train of eight meters and a tulle veil of 140 meters of fabric. An iconic design that she was not the only one that she wore on the occasion of her wedding.

The designer Elizabeth Emanuel has been in charge of revealing that Lady Di wore another design of hers at the pre-wedding party held at Buckingham Palace. "Diana asked me to design a very sexy dress to surprise everyone," she explained to Hello! Magazine, to whom she gave a photograph to show this secret creation.

Hours before saying "yes, I do" to Prince Charles, young Spencer made an impact with a very sensual design of a mermaid silhouette in fuchsia pink. A dress with three-quarter sleeves, a V-neckline and ruffled trim detail that hugged Diana's figure.

"The fabric was a rich silk taffeta in a shocking pink, a sexy little number and one that was sure to turn heads! It had a low neckline and was cut to the knee," the designer pointed out to the publication, which ensured that the The prince's fiancée “looked stunning!”

In the interview, Elizabeth Emanuel also stated that she did not know where this original design is, but she did know that she had made a recreation for the series The Crown, which in its fourth season deals with the wedding of the princes of Wales.
