Joana Sanz and Anabel Pantoja, broken in pain by the fires in Tenerife

New blow for the Canary Islands. Since last Tuesday, August 15, a forest fire has shaken the island of Tenerife, calcining everything in its path. The dangerous fire has already consumed more than 3,273 hectares in eight municipalities on the island, although the first results of the tireless work of the firefighters and workers who are fighting to extinguish the fire are also beginning to be seen, which Fernando Clavijo, president of the Canary Islands, has defined as ''the most complex of the last 40 years in the Islands''.

Currently, there are eight affected municipalities: Arafo, Candelaria, El Rosario, La Victoria, Santa Úrsula, La Orotava, El Sauzal and Tacoronte. This terrible event has caused the evacuation of 3,069 people, who have been forced to abandon their homes. In addition, around 3,820 individuals are confined in the town of La Esperanza awaiting instructions from the authorities.

The Ministry of Defense announced yesterday that a transport plane with 92 UME troops destined to reinforce the already deployed contingent would leave Seville, since all forces are too few to combat the catastrophe.

From the EMU they have classified the fire as "especially difficult and serious", since smoke columns of up to six kilometers have been generated. It should be noted that the situation is especially difficult, since when it comes to fighting the fire there are not so many water collection points for seaplanes on the islands. It should be said that if they use the salty water from the sea they will end the wildlife of those lands.

During all these days, thousands of people are echoing the natural disaster on social networks. The canaries, who have a very strong cultural identity and defend their land tooth and nail, are sharing hundreds of images of the fire and asking for help from both public organizations and anyone who can contribute to the fight.

The content creator Anabel Pantoja, niece of the singer of Marinero de Luces and Hoy quiero confesarse, uploaded a photo to her Instagram stories yesterday to make the cause visible and show that she loves the land that has welcomed her and has given her so many good things.

Another of the people who wanted to publicly express their support for their countrymen is the Tenerife model Joana Sanz, who shared a photo of her land on fire along with some sad emojis. Although the ex-wife of Dani Alves does not live on the islands due to her work commitments and has made her life on the peninsula, she has always defended the Canarian culture and her origins above all else.
