God save the Queen: the sixth and final season of 'The Crown' will premiere on November 16

The death of Queen Elizabeth II of England marked a before and after in the history of the British crown. Behind her were more than seventy years of her assuming a role that would make her one of the most recognized figures in the history of humanity. Her death followed an unprecedented protocol, Operation London Bridge, which brought the United Kingdom to a complete standstill for days. However, there were other related elements that also stopped us dead.

One of the most striking was the filming of the sixth and final season of The Crown, the series that covers the life and most notable events of His Majesty's career. The production team halted planning for several days in September 2022, out of respect. Now, just over a year after her goodbye, Netflix has shared the first trailer for this new arc, which will close the reign of Elizabeth II with a flourish and diamonds.

The images published by the streaming platform reveal that this season will be divided into two parts. The first four episodes will premiere on November 16, while the remaining six will have to wait until December 14. Netflix celebrated the announcement with a short video, about 50 seconds long, which reviews the queen's story. The trailer carries out her mission with the help of the three women who have played her.

“The Crown is a symbol of permanence. It is what you are, not what you do,” explains Claire Foy in voice-over, as her image appears on the screen of a tube television. “A part of ourselves is always lost. We have all made sacrifices. It's not a choice. It is a duty,” adds Olivia Colman, who is portrayed in a photograph. The last to complete the speech is the titular actress, Imelda Staunton, who is on top of Buckingham Palace.

“But what about the life I left aside? The woman I left aside…” her character asks herself, seconds before going out to the balcony to greet her entourage. A trailer that concludes with the dates and a last message for its audience, while the hands of a clock advance impassively in the background: “The final chapter begins on November 16.” A final chapter that will cover some of the most complicated recent moments in Her Majesty's life.

The sixth season of The Crown will show its followers one of the hardest moments of the British crown: the death of Lady Di, filmed in the Jardinets de Gràcia and Plaza Francesc Macià in Barcelona. Other notable events that are expected to be seen in this conclusion are the government of Tony Blair, the first meetings between William of Wales and Kate Middleton and the wedding between the current monarchs of the United Kingdom: Charles III and Camilla.
