The new edition of the Benidorm Fest is already a reality. RTVE has presented this Wednesday what will be the third season of the musical contest, from which the next representative of Spain will once again be chosen in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, which will be held in the Swedish city of Malmö.
In a press conference held in the same town that hosts the event, and in which two prominent Eurovision faces such as Massiel and Blanca Paloma have been present, the public entity has detailed all the data on the Benidorm Fest 2024, including several news compared to the two previous editions of the contest.
The directors of Benidorm Fest 2024, Ana María Bordás and César Vallejo, have been in charge of setting a date for the new edition of the musical contest. Following the path of 2022 and 2023, the city of Benidorm will host the festival coinciding with the last week of January and the first days of February.
Therefore, the structure of two semifinals will be followed, which will take place on January 30 and February 1 respectively, and in which the finalists will be chosen. These will dispute the victory in a grand final that, again, will take place on Saturday, February 3 in prime time.
As in the first edition of the Benidorm Fest, there will be 16 artists and groups selected to be part of the contest in 2024, from among all those interested in participating with their musical proposals. Their identities will be known on November 11, 2023, coinciding with the celebration of the Latin Grammy Awards in Seville.
In addition, as a great novelty of the new season of the festival, RTVE has announced the creation of a music camp that will take place in September, aimed at artists who want to create new songs in a purely musical environment. The artist Rayden, a participant in the Benidorm Fest 2022, will be one of its visible faces. "I feel like a Pokémon hunter", he has assured him at the press conference.
