Wout van Aert will abandon the Tour de France if his wife gives birth during the race

Belgian cyclist Wout van Aert (Jumbo-Visma) is considering withdrawing from the Tour de France, which will take place between July 1 and 23, if his wife gives birth during the race.

"I have no intention of losing it," said the 28-year-old runner in an interview published today by the Belgian newspaper Nieuwsblad, regarding what would be his second baby.

His wife, Sarah De Bie, is pregnant, although the exact date of delivery is not known.

The Belgian had previously indicated that in this edition of the Tour he would not try to return to the regular crown with the green jersey as he did last year, where he also took three partial victories and the prize for combativeness, but rather focus on seeking victories of stage.
