New Audi Q6 e-tron, a very technological electric SUV to go from Barcelona to Madrid without recharging

Audi has just launched the new Q6 e-tron, an SUV that sits between the electric Q4 e-tron and the Q8 e-tron. It can now be ordered starting this March, although deliveries will not begin until summer. It is the first production model built on the Premium Electric Platform (PPE), developed jointly with Porsche.

It measures 477 centimeters long, 194 cm wide and 165 cm high. Its wheelbase, estimated at 290 cm, offers good habitability for five people, especially in the leg area of the second row of seats (as it is an electric car, it lacks the typical central transmission tunnel that the models have). combustion). Likewise, the loading area is correct.

The trunk has 526 liters of storage space. This figure can be increased to 1,529 liters if the backrest of the rear seats is folded down. Additionally, under the hood, there is a 64-liter compartment, which allows you to store small bags.

The launch range will be made up of two four-wheel drive variants: the Q6 e-tron quattro (285 kW) accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, while the SQ6 e-tron (380 kW , with launch control) only needs 4.3 seconds to reach 100 km/h from a standstill. The maximum speed is 210 km/h and 230 km/h, respectively. Later, two versions with rear-wheel drive will arrive, one developed to offer maximum efficiency and autonomy, and another that will be positioned as the entry to the range.

A newly developed lithium-ion battery composed of twelve modules and 180 prismatic cells with a total gross capacity of 100 kWh (94.9 net) guarantees a range of up to 625 kilometers, the approximate distance between Barcelona and Madrid. Thanks to 800-volt technology and a maximum charging capacity of 270 kW as standard, short charging stops are possible with the Audi Q6 e-tron. Up to 255 km of autonomy can be recovered in just ten minutes at a super-fast charging station, you can go from 10 to 80% in just 21 minutes.

If a charging station operates with 400-volt technology, the Audi Q6 e-tron can, for the first time, enable the “bank charging” function, i.e. the 800-volt battery is divided into two of equal voltage that can be charged. in parallel with a power of up to 135 kW. Depending on the state of charge, both halves are first equalized and then charged simultaneously. With a standard home charger it is possible to recharge with alternating current with a power of up to 11 kW.

The Q6 e-tron incorporates a generous technological package, which includes new OLED digital rear lights, capable of communicating with the immediate environment selectively (Car-to-X). Likewise, the proximity detection system has a light that warns other road users in advance of accidents and breakdowns. In addition to the usual rear light graphics, in critical situations the communication light displays a specific static signature with warning symbols integrated into the digital OLED rear lights.

As for the assistance systems, Audi equips the adaptive driving assistant plus: it not only helps to accelerate, maintain speed, control the distance to the vehicle in front and guide along the lane, but also uses high-resolution map data and Fleet data from other vehicles added in the cloud to improve handling.

As standard, the car includes front and rear parking assistant, adaptive cruise control, surrounding cameras, lane departure warning, efficiency assistant, active front assistant and a distraction and drowsiness warning system. . Customers can opt for other assistance systems and a safety package as part of various equipment packages.

The interior is made with recycled materials. The dashboard mounts a new instrument panel that merges with the infotainment system screen to create a panoramic panel from which all functions can be controlled. The Audi Virtual Cockpit screen is 11.9 inches, while the infotainment system's screen is 14.5 inches.

For the front passenger, Audi complements the digital scenario with the 10.9-inch MMI screen, which has an active privacy mode that allows the occupant of the right front seat to view video content, help with navigation or even find a station. load without distracting the driver.

The augmented reality (AR) Head-Up Display (HUD) reflects a large image on the windshield, showing the driver relevant information such as speed, traffic signs and assistance system icons, as well as navigation symbols. The image plane is tilted forward to enhance the impression of augmented reality, so that the focus of the human eye moves with it.

This process and the large virtual distance of the image create the impression that the elements shown are floating up to 200 meters away. In this way, the virtual content is perfectly integrated into reality and the driver can interpret the information quickly without being confused or distracted by the represented elements. The field of view of the augmented reality function corresponds to a diagonal of about 223 centimeters (88 inches) from the driver's perspective.

On the other hand, the Audi Assistant voice assistant with artificial intelligence support can be used to control numerous vehicle functions and, for the first time, is displayed via an avatar on the central MMI touchscreen and in the reality head-up display. increased. The new voice assistant understands more than 800 commands
