Andalusia is left without its first Perico Delgado Cycling March

Pedro 'Perico' Delgado has been one of the greatest cyclists in the history of Spain and since he retired from the professional world he has not stopped being in contact with cycling. 'La Perico' is one of the most established cycling events on the calendar and the man from Segovia has missed few opportunities when it comes to growing the sport he loves so much.

Also under his name and with him as a great ambassador of the event, the municipality of Alcalá la Real, located in Andalusia, announced that the first edition of the Perico Delgado Cycling March was going to be held in 2023, however, it has been cancelled.

The City Council alleges that there has not been a high enough number of registrations for the test to go ahead and ten days before it is to be held they have made the decision to cancel it.

The different political parties in charge of organizing this event have not been slow to point to each other but the reality is that the test is not going to be held. 'Perico' will continue to support and name many other high-level cyclists but, for now, it won't be in Andalusia.
