the Danish Cycling Union (DCU) provides information on Tuesday that all the years up to and including 30. april is cancelled.
It appears by a letter on the union's website, where DCU president Henrik Jess Jensen affirms that as a responsible alliance want to follow the injunction, recommendations and actions against coronaviruses.
- Therefore we have decided with immediate effect to cancel all cycling to and including 30. april 2020, writes Jensen in the statement, which is issued on behalf of the DCU board.
- It would be deeply irresponsible to begin to expound or interpret the experts ' guidelines – we do not run any risk, and we neither can, or will, as an organisation, we make something that recalls of medical analysis, assessments of risk in cycling or the like.
the Danish Cycling Union follows, therefore, constantly the official injunctions, recommendations and guidelines set out on the sport from the authorities – we do it just to be responsible and not to abandon us responsibility, says.
It appears that the decision to cancel the races only change if the regulatory recommendations or requirements change. DCU is currently studying the possibility to extend the season in October.
But so far it is closed for racing on the highways.
- We are in the midst of one of the most serious health crises in history, and our actions can literally mean the difference between life and death – and the sport becomes, as it naturally must, in the background for everything that happens these days, writes Henrik Jess Jensen.
It is not only the Danish perspective, that the sport is a neglected spring in the meeting.
Earlier on Tuesday it was announced by the ASO that the monuments Paris-Roubaix and Liège-Bastogne-Lìege as well as Fleche-Wallonne will be postponed to a yet unknown date. You can read much more about here!
