The second vice president of the Government, Yolanda Díaz, will soon travel to Palestine at the invitation of her Palestinian counterpart, Nasri Abu Jaish. A meeting preceded by the meetings already held between the leader of Sumar and the Palestinian ambassador to Spain, Husni Abdel Wahed.
The respective diplomatic and technical teams are preparing the trip agenda and, while waiting to define the specific days of the visit, sources from the confederal space have told El Diario that Díaz has shown his willingness to travel as soon as possible with the intention of "know first-hand" the situation in the country.
Sumar has reiterated Spain's recognition of the Palestinian State as well as the need for a ceasefire in the area after the Hamas terrorist attack which was followed by the "massacre" of Israeli forces in Gaza. Sumar's commitment is firm in this sense and, after demanding from the PSOE the embargo on the sale of weapons with the Government of Benjamin Netanyahu, his five ministers will attend this Saturday the march in support of the Palestinian people convened in Madrid under the motto ' No to impunity, end to the massacre.'
The trip has been made known to the socialist part of the Executive and will emulate the one already made last November by the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, who included Palestine in a tour in which he also visited Israel and Egypt and which opened the door for Spain to unilaterally recognize the Palestinian State if the international community does not make joint decisions in that direction.
Sánchez also defended in Ramallah, and before the president of the Palestinian National Authority (PNA), Mahmud Abas, the joint fight against terrorism after the Hamas attacks of October 7, while ratifying his commitment to the coexistence of two States, Israel and Palestine.
The news of Díaz's next trip to Palestine comes just 48 hours after Sumar demanded that the Minister of Foreign Affairs, EU and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, cancel all arms sales contracts to Israel, including those previously signed. to the invasion of Gaza like the one carried out in recent days by the Spanish Government.
"Any prior license that has been given must be cancelled," said the spokesman for the plurinational group, Ernest Urtasun, on Monday, emphasizing that "not a single bullet, not a single Spanish pistol, can go to Israel" in the current circumstances. .
