Alberto Núñez Feijóo's agenda in Catalonia is not going to change despite the uncertain scenario opened by President Pedro Sánchez. This was stated this morning by the leader of the popular parties during a visit to Ulldecona. "My commitment," he said, "is with the Catalans." But although the political agenda does not change, his intervention has addressed the situation around Sánchez and his period of reflection. And he has compared him to Carles Puigdemont who, according to popular opinion, focuses his entire political strategy on himself.
"We know," he noted, "Puigdemont's problems with the law, and now he says he wants to return to Catalonia. Sánchez and his entourage are also addressing alleged cases of corruption and he is contemplating leaving." The issue, as Feijóo has pointed out, is that what they do is "transfer their problems to a perplexed citizenry." He has thus contrasted this situation with the PP's "commitment to talking about the problems of Catalans, about how to solve them and not the other way around."
Feijóo's intervention, together with the candidate Alejandro Fernández, took place while thousands of protesters gathered on Ferraz Street in Madrid in support of Sánchez, who is reflecting on his future in Moncloa after a complaint was filed against his wife Begoña Gómez by Clean Hands. The popular president has asked citizens "not to be fooled by Sánchez." He has thus pointed out that Spain does not have a problem, but the one who has it is the president.
In his opinion, the chief executive's criticism of judges, courts and journalists means "resigning from democracy." The one who has a judicial problem, he has reiterated, is him.
From Montsià, Feijóo and Alejandro Fernández have also outlined the PP's proposals in this campaign on fiscal matters, a central issue in their program. The Catalan candidate has opted for "tax moderation", with the elimination of inheritance and donation taxes and the reduction of personal income tax brackets. The formula for the companies that left during the process to return, he has stressed, is to provide legal and political security and end the "fiscal hell."
