WhatsApp restores its service after suffering a global outage

The online communication service Whatsapp suffered a brief incident this Wednesday that prevented sending and receiving messages globally for about half an hour. Initially the failure - which began to be noticed around eight in the afternoon - affected messages in group chats, and later extended to individual communication, completely blocking the service.

A few minutes before eight in the afternoon, the specialized website Downdetector began to receive several tens of thousands of notices warning of the failure, on which the company Meta - owner of the application - has not yet commented.

The restoration of the service has been progressive starting at 8:35 p.m., with some delays in sending and receiving messages through the desktop version of the application, Whatsapp Web.

The incident has also affected the content of the social networks Instagram and Facebook, also owned by Mark Zuckerberg's company.
