Vox tries to change the regulations of Les Corts to give voice to an ILP of 'Hablamos Español'

The president of Les Corts Valencianes, Llanos Massó (Vox), presented this Tuesday a proposal to modify the Parliament's regulations so that the promoters of the Popular Legislative Initiatives (ILP) have a voice in the plenary session and can defend their proposals. A possibility that would allow the members of the organization Hablamos Español to go to the Chamber to defend their ILP on the free choice of language. This still cannot be done since although this is stated in the law on ILP that the Botànic approved in 2017, the regulations of the regional chamber have not been adapted to the standard seven years later.

The president's proposal, explained the Vox spokesperson, José María Llanos, had the endorsement of the lawyers of Les Corts and the PP, but not of the opposition who denounced, later at a press conference, Llanos Massó's attempt to "violate the regulations" to give prominence to some ILPs. COmpromís and PSPV believe that the modification of the regulations cannot be done overnight at the proposal of the president and that the established channels must be followed

Thus, despite the fact that the Board approved Llanos Massó's proposal, it remained a dead letter since it was not transferred to the Board of Ombudsmen and, therefore, did not materialize. Vox insisted that "other solutions" will be sought to undertake these changes after agreeing "with the PP" not to go ahead with the modification of the regulations.

Compromís spokesperson Joan Baldoví pointed to Vox's supposed interest in giving visibility to the identity signs initiative promoted by Juan García Sentandrey to prohibit the use of the term País Valencià and prevent the defense of the unity of the language. However, as La Vanguardia already explained, this ILP does not convince Vox, which understands that it proposes issues - such as separating officials who contravene identification rules - that conflict with the law. Yesterday José María Llanos reiterated that Vox will be "on the side of legality", whether they like it more or less. Furthermore, the parliamentary spokesperson for Abascal's party stressed that Sentandreu's proposal does not have the necessary signatures to be debated in Les Corts.

Yes, the ILP has them regarding the free choice of language promoted by the Habamos Español platform, with which Vox has special harmony. In fact, the far-right party already tried to apply the changes to the ILP law last legislature so that its promoters could defend their initiative in plenary. "It has been our electoral commitment," Llanos highlighted yesterday.

The ILP promotes, among other things, that "parents of minor students have the right to choose the official language in which their children receive education" and that "it is not necessary for all public employees to know Valencian, but rather that It is enough that the administration organizes its human resources to guarantee the exercise of rights.

For his part, the PP spokesperson, Miguel Barrachina, did not want to get into controversy and pointed out that "the will of the president of Les Corts has been to solve the problem created by the Botànic" which approved a law and then did not adapt the chamber regulations to the new regulations. Barrachina did not see any attempt to give prominence to anyone based on their political ideology and recalled that, among the ILPs that have already been presented, there is also one on the free feminine hygiene products presented by leaders of Esquerra Republicana del País Valencià .
