Vilagrà assures that the Government will remain on the sidelines of what Junts does and rules out elections

The Councilor of the Presidency and right-hand man of Pere Aragonès in the Government, Laura Vilagrà, has assured this morning that the Catalan Executive will continue regardless of what JuntsxCatalunya decides this Thursday in response to the resignation of the until yesterday vice-president of the Generalitat, Jordi Puigneró. and has completely ruled out calling early elections.

"The Government will continue, the Government is in force, we have been in office for a year and a half and we have already executed 40% of the program", Vilagrà settled in an interview on Catalunya Ràdio in which, when asked if he ruled out early elections, he was forceful: "Yes I can tell you with absolute certainty."

And it is that for the Minister of Presidency there is still "margin" to rebuild trust between ERC and Junts, the two partners of the Government. A coalition that, in Vilagrà's opinion, "has validity". "We are partners who can work together and cohesively for the country," she insisted. And he has warned that "we need a cohesive Government and that the people who are part of it are 100% committed to its objectives" in the face of a situation that he has described as difficult and complicated by inflation and the economic difficulties of citizens.

For this reason, Vilagrà has asked all the ministers to work with "trust and loyalty" in the face of an "uncomfortable and difficult situation that must be closed" and explained that all the ministers expressed yesterday, at the Consell Executiu meeting, "the need to do it in this line". "All ministers are well aware that the situation is very difficult," he pointed out.

JxCat, which is meeting its executive this morning to “make the corresponding decisions, sent a statement at midnight in which it describes the decision to dismiss Puigneró as a “historic error”, “violates the Government agreement” and “defrauds the electoral mandate ”. In this regard, Vilagrà has avoided answering what "historical error" could mean and has considered that it is Junts who should give this answer.
