Two minors, aged 11 and 13, had to be admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Maternal and Child Hospital of Badajoz after suffering burns of varying degrees following an explosion that occurred in the laboratory of the San Fernando Institute in the capital of Badajoz.

As reported to Efe by the Extremadura Health Service (SES), the minors were taken to the hospital this Wednesday and after undergoing the operating room they were admitted to the pediatric ICU.

A professor with less serious burns has also been treated at the Badajoz University Hospital and will not be admitted.

According to Red Cross sources, the explosion occurred during an open day at the center, in an annex building, where the laboratory is located.

At the moment, the specific circumstances under which the event occurred are unknown, which took place minutes before 8:00 p.m., and personnel from the National and Local Police, the Extremeño Health Service (SES) and the Red Cross intervened. .
