The world of comics turns to Carlos Pacheco after announcing that he suffers from ALS

Colleagues, publishers and followers turn to cartoonist Carlos Pacheco after he has announced that he suffers from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a disease that makes him face an "unexpected plot twist."

The "Antonio Banderas of the Spanish comic", for what is known outside our borders, is how his followers are defining him on social networks, that space that the Cádiz-born (San Roque, 1961) has chosen to communicate to that "legion" of followers that he has been diagnosed with ALS, "that of the ice cubes", as he has referred to the disease.

"It is what it is and it is what you have to face. It is an unexpected script twist in my life, it is true, but it does not make me feel lucky for everything I have lived, for the experiences I have had, the achievements achieved and the people with whom I have had the fortune to come across. In short, a life that has gone beyond the wildest dreams of that kid I once was", said this Spanish pioneer in the American comic industry.

A message that has mobilized publishers such as Panini, which sends the author "a thousand hugs, a thousand kisses, a thousand affections", or colleagues such as Albert Monteys, who has described Pacheco as a "pioneer, titan and one of the people who knows of comics in this country".

A few words that accompany those written on his social networks by the cartoonist Manuel Bartual: "All the hours I spent looking at his drawings in the 90s have come to mind. A fabulous and inspiring artist who paved the way for many. I think that few have loved and understood comics like him".

Affirmations that refer to that trajectory that has made him a reference in international comics because Pacheco has been an author of Marvel and DC for three decades, years in which he has drawn "The Avengers", "The Fantastic Four", " Flash", "Superman" or "Captain America".
