The Valencian Community was the one that registered the highest year-on-year growth in international passenger air traffic, with an increase of 16.7%, according to data released today by Turespaña. In July, passengers from international airports arriving in Spain were close to 10.3 million, 11.5% more than in the same month of 2022.

The growth in the group of the six autonomies with the most arrivals (share of 96.6% of the total) was 11.1%. The Balearic Islands was the community with the most arrivals (23.8% of the total), followed by Catalonia (19.6%) and Madrid (19.4%). Regarding the traffic of low-cost companies, the Balearic Islands was the community with the highest share of arrivals (26.9%), followed by Catalonia (22.4%), and C. Valenciana, which experienced the greatest year-on-year growth (18, 7%).

For the acting Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Héctor Gómez, "Spain is a leading destination and this is demonstrated by today's data, which certifies the sweet summer that the sector is experiencing at all levels, with record spending and tourist arrivals and with a horizon of model change towards quality and sustainability that is already unstoppable”.

In the month of July, passengers to Spain increased from all the main countries. 56% of all passengers came from the European Union, experiencing a rise of 11.4%, while the flow from the rest of the world, which accounted for the remaining 44%, grew by 11.7%.

Compared with the figures of the immediately previous year, the markets that registered the highest growth in July were Poland, with 34.7% more, followed by Portugal and Italy, with 23.3% growth, and 18.8% respectively.

The United Kingdom generated 24.1% of all passengers arriving in Spain in July, registering an interannual increase of 8.2%. This growth affected all communities, but especially the Balearic and Canary Islands, which were the destination of 28.7% and 20.1% of its passengers.

Passenger arrivals from Germany (14.2% of the total) increased by 6.6%, especially benefiting the Balearic Islands (48.4% of passengers).

9.3% of the flow of passengers received in July arrived from Italy, registering an interannual growth of 18.8%, which particularly benefited Catalonia (27.4% of passengers) and Madrid (23.3%).

France issued 7.8% of all passengers in July, showing an expansion of 5.8% that especially favored the Balearic Islands (23.4% of passengers), Madrid (21.6%) and Catalonia (21% ).

Passengers arriving in July from the Netherlands, 4.7% of the total, experienced an increase of 15%, with Catalonia as the main destination (22.5% of passengers).
