The Thyssen and the Reina Sofía expand through the networks

The Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza and the Museo Reina Sofía, both in Madrid, are committed to digitization with their new projects aimed at expanding art internationally but, above all, with the hope that young people become more interested in the world of culture.

The Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza has launched this Friday, on its YouTube channel, a tour that will allow users to discover some of the most iconic works in its permanent collection from the inside, in collaboration with the content creator Ter.

The tour analyzes seven works that revolve around a common thread: the evolution of the blue pigment throughout the History of Art. Thus, you can see the painting The Adoration of the Magi (1360-1365) by Luca di Tommè; Saint Catherine (1598-1599) by Caravaggio; Portrait of a Woman as a Vestal by Angelica Kauffmann; The Dream (1912) by Franz Marc; The Waterloo Bridge (1906) by André Derain; Painting with Three Stains No. 196 (1914) by Kandinsky; and the Catalan peasant with his guitar (1924) by Joan Miró.

The objective of this initiative is to bring the Thyssen Museum and art closer to new younger audiences, both national and international, taking advantage of both the global reach of YouTube and the collaboration with the content creator Ter.

On the other hand, the Reina Sofía Museum has just presented its digital platform, LaDigitaldelReina, a project that makes available to all those interested in contemporary art, a fund with more than 27,000 digital objects of different nature, including archives, books, paintings, magazines, photographs, audios, videos or engravings.

In this way, LaDigitaldelReina is a powerful search engine that allows great flexibility in queries as well as an integrated image viewer with advanced functions and important zoom options. In addition, it has original elements such as the Image Comparator, a tool that allows you to view two works in parallel, for example, a sketch and its final result, as is the case with Dalí's The Invisible Man.

In this way, you can access a whole collection of more than 700 artists' books (786) and more than 600 photobooks (649), which will continue to be enriched with the digitization lines that will feed the platform.
