The Sau reservoir improves but remains in the ICU

The last rains of the month of March are to celebrate, but even so they have left us with insufficient water for swamps like Sau, in Osona, to recover their best appearance, as we see in The Photos of the Readers of La Vanguardia.

Even so, it is not at all bad news that this reservoir is no longer at 1% of its capacity, but is already close to 5%. A year ago at this time it was at 6.6%. Of course, according to the average of recent years, it is still very far from 103 hm³ and is now only 11 hm³.

In the last few hours, more than the rain, the wind, fog and rough seas have been the protagonists in Catalonia. The rainfall has been notable in Val d'Aran, Alta Ribagorça and the two Pallars, where extreme precautions have been taken due to the possible flooding of the rivers.

But, on the other hand, the Ter as it passes through Osona has transported less water than desirable to Sau. The Ges has not met all expectations either.

The Sau reservoir, located in the municipality of Vilanova de Sau, is at the foot of the Guilleries massif. The abysses that surround the swamp are spectacular and are reflected in its waters.

Sau is part of a system of three reservoirs, along with those of Susqueda and Pasteral, which unites the regions of Osona and La Selva. Of the three, the last is the one that is best withstanding the consequences of the drought.
