The tower of the Praetorium of Tarragona has been undergoing intervention work since this summer, and with this elements have appeared that are allowing the monument to be reinterpreted as it was known until now and which is being studied by experts in the field, as well as being doing maintenance work to strengthen it.

During the latest rehabilitation work on the historical monument, unknown stonecutter's marks have been discovered, in addition to more traces of projectiles from the Spanish War of Independence (1808-1814) that were not documented.

The head of the architecture section at the Tarragona City Council, Raquel Casals, explained that the intervention “has called into question interpretations that had existed until now” and that “it is serving to initiate many doctoral theses” due to the fact that they have been found brands that go more “in a more esoteric or mystical sense.”

Pilar Bravo, municipal archaeologist, in fact, has emphasized that one of the objectives of the intervention in the tower of the Praetorium of Tarragona was to "be able to get closer to all the historical phases that have marked the evolution of this monument."

The Torre del Pretorio is one of the most unique and characteristic monuments in the history of Tarragona, since it contains a large part of the town's history, from Roman to medieval origins, and it served as a prison during the 19th century. XX.
