The protest in Ferraz loses steam on the eighth day of concentrations against the amnesty

The eighth day of protests against the amnesty has seen new mobilizations in cities such as Madrid, Barcelona and Malaga. The latter has also been in the news because it hosted a meeting between the acting President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and the Federal Chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz.

Some 4,000 protesters, according to updated data from the Government Delegation, have gathered again on the armored Ferraz street in Madrid, where the PSOE headquarters is located, and the protest has not been as tense as those of recent days - Yesterday, 24 arrests were made and seven police officers were injured - which ended after midnight with one detainee and one journalist injured, but without serious incidents.

This Friday, in addition to chanting the now classic slogans in these rallies such as "Let Txapote vote for you", "Sánchez traitor" or "Puigdemont to prison", some rallies have also been calling for a general strike. Once again, some of the protesters have rebuked reporters who were reporting on the protest.

As has been usual throughout the week, around 10:00 p.m. the tension has been increasing in the place. The most radical protesters have begun to stand in the front row and, with their faces covered, have begun to throw firecrackers, glass and other types of objects at the agents and the press.

At another time, an individual has climbed a traffic light to hang a sign with Sánchez's face and the phrase "Obey." Fascist chants and gestures have also been heard, with pre-constitutional flags. Through a megaphone, the Police have been asking people not to throw objects. Given this, police reinforcements have increased

Another city where there have been protests against the amnesty has been Malaga, where this afternoon Pedro Sánchez and Olaf Scholz held a bilateral meeting at the headquarters of the Government Subdelegation in the Andalusian city. The meeting took place because both leaders are participating in the Congress of the European Socialist Party (PES), which is being held in the town today and tomorrow.

Around half a thousand protesters have blocked traffic at the doors of the Government Subdelegation in Malaga, where the meeting between Sánchez and Scholz took place. The participants in the protest carried numerous Spanish flags, some of them pre-constitutional or with the Carlist Cross of Burgundy, and chanted insulting slogans for the Spanish president.

As also happened yesterday, Barcelona has been another city in which another mobilization against the amnesty has been carried out. The rally, organized by the Revuelta collective, began around 8:00 p.m. and some of those gathered in front of the Government Delegation in Catalonia burned photos of pro-independence flags and the Spanish president, Pedro Sánchez, with the motto "Traitor" next to his image.

Protesters have also shouted "Puigdemont to prison" and proclamations against the Mossos police guarding the building. Among the attendees, around 250 according to the Guàrdia Urbana, were the Vox councilor in the Barcelona City Council Gonzalo de Oro and the party's spokesperson in the Parliament, Joan Garriga.
