The PP is open to talking with Junts "within the Constitution"

The extra seat that, after scrutiny of the foreign vote, would leave the PP with 137 deputies, has drawn a new block arithmetic with which the Popular Party seems willing to forget a good part of the statements made in recent days by its leaders. To the point of not ruling out talking to Junts "within the Constitution", which places Carles Puigdemont's formation in the center of the board for both the progressive and the conservative majority.

This was mentioned this Saturday by the Deputy Secretary for Regional and Local Coordination of the PP, Pedro Rollán, who reminded the PSOE of its abstention in the investiture of Mariano Rajoy when it obtained 137 seats as the popular ones on this 23-J.

For this reason, it has not ruled out that the conservatives speak with Junts "within the Constitution" despite the fact that Isabel Díaz Ayuso, among other leaders, described the hypothetical rapprochement of the PSOE with that same party as a pact "to govern with criminals and independentistas". "The Popular Party is willing to speak with each and every one of the political formations as long as they are within the framework of the Spanish Constitution," she reiterated.

The fact is that Junts continues to hold the key to governance for both one block and the other. Sánchez is obliged to have his favorable vote if he wants to be sworn in - the abstention of the independentistas is no longer enough, since he would only have 171 supports compared to the 172 of the PP. And the PP, having already vetoed EH Bildu, cannot close itself to those of Puigdemont.

It should be remembered that the Canarian Coalition, which in principle could join the right-wing bloc (along with a UPN deputy), has reiterated that it will not support an investiture of Feijóo if it puts Vox in the government.

The sudden turn suggested by the PP has not gone unnoticed by Vox, the only potential ally of the popular before the rounds of talks officially opened. And Santiago Abascal's party has made it ugly in a restrictive way.

"Genoa 13 is willing to talk to Josu Ternera if necessary. We said they were clueless. But it seems they are completely lost. We are not going to be accomplices" expressed the official account of the ultra party on Twitter.
