The motion of censure of PP and Vox in Vinaròs gives the mayorship to the independents

María Dolores Miralles, from the Partit de Vinaròs Independent (PVI), has become the new mayor of the Castellón town of Vinaròs when the motion of censure presented against the current mayor, the socialist Guillem Alsina, who governed in coalition with Commitment

The seven councilors of the PP, the two of Vox and the other two of the PVI registered a motion of censure in the City Council on December 14, in which they proposed Miralles as mayor, and which was debated this Friday in an extraordinary plenary session. .

The motion has gone ahead with the votes in favor of these three formations, which total 11 councillors, and against the PSPV and Compromís, which group a total of 10 councillors, municipal sources have informed EFE.

After the last municipal elections, the PSPV and Compromís reached an investiture agreement with ten councilors, which made them begin to govern as a minority, and the socialist Guillem Alsina was proclaimed mayor.

The opposition forces, which failed to materialize an agreement for the investiture, have united to make this motion of censure prosper, motivated, as they assured when presenting it, by "the inability of the current left-wing municipal government to approve a budget" for 2023 nor for 2024.

This is the third motion of censure that has passed in the Valencian Community so far this term, after those passed in Vilafamés (Castelló) and Montserrat (Valencia). In addition, another motion is scheduled to be debated in Albaida (Valencia) on January 2, presented by the six councilors of the PP and two of the three socialist councilors to wrest the mayor's office from Compromís.
