The Mossos identify the three authors of the derogatory posters with Maragall's Alzheimer's

The Mossos d'Esquadra have identified the three young people who hung posters mocking Pasqual and Ernest Maragall with the slogan "Alzheimer's out of Barcelona" and which was accompanied by a photograph of the two brothers. As reported by the Catalan police through a statement, the investigation has ended "with conclusive evidence that determines the alleged authorship of the three young people."

Those identified are three young people aged 24, 22 and 21 who were recognized thanks to images obtained from nearby buildings and establishments as well as the testimony of several witnesses. The Mossos assure that none of the three young people is related to "any group or political party" with which it can be deduced that they carried out the action on their own initiative or, at least, it has not been possible to demonstrate the contrary.

The ERC candidate for mayor, Ernest Maragall, announced that he would file a complaint after the appearance of the posters in front of his party headquarters, an event he described as "extreme political violence". The Mossos started the ex officio investigation, to which were added the complaints of the Republican candidate and that of the Pasqual Maragall Foundation. "The three young men were together and the three of them jointly carried out the action of hanging the posters," the police said in their statement.

One of the perpetrators was identified during a fight and was recognized by a witness who caught him hanging the posters. The three alleged perpetrators were summoned to testify on April 14 at Mossos offices in the Eixample as being investigated for a hate crime and refused to testify. One of them has a record for robberies. The posters appeared in various ERC headquarters in Barcelona on March 12 and hung on trees in the Les Corts neighborhood, in Plaza Catalunya next to the Aerobús stop and also in Plaza Espanya.
