The moment of the coronation of Charles III of England

Carlos III has already been crowned. He and Camila are officially the kings of the United Kingdom after the incredible ceremony held on May 6, 2023 at Westminster Abbey. After his coronation, Carlos III, at 73 years of age, has officially presented himself to the world as king and head of state of the countries that belong to the Commonwealth.

Under the typical rain of the London scene, Carlos and Camila walked through the heart of the city until they reached Westminster Abbey, where the consecration began. With the cry of "God save the King" ("God save the King") and the subsequent oath to the Law and the British Church, Carlos III presented himself to the audience as the legitimate king of England. Next, the monarch took a seat in the Coronation Chair -also called Saint Edward's Chair, built in the year 1300- and was anointed with oil by the Archbishop of Canterbury, as tradition dictates.

After this moment, the most symbolic part of the ritual began: the reception of sceptres, rings and swords by Carlos III and, finally, the placement of the Crown of Saint Edward on his head.

The arrival of Carlos and Camila to the Abbey mounted on the 'Diamond Jubilee' carriage, as well as their subsequent departure and procession back to Buckingham Palace, where they greeted the crowd from the palace balcony, was surrounded by moments significant. Also the reception of guests.

Among the popular faces that have been seen, some European monarchs stand out, such as the kings of Spain, Felipe and Letizia -who attended without their daughters, Leonor and Sofía-, or Alberto II and Charlène of Monaco. Also Jill Biden, First Lady of the United States, Camila's ex-husband, Andrew Parker-Bowles or Prince Enrique, who attended without the company of Meghan Markle and her children.
